Wesley Lyon

Wes is the President & CEO of McGill and Lyon Dental Advisors, co-editor of The McGill & Lyon Dental Advisory, and a Tax, Business, and Financial Planning Advisor. He is a prominent speaker known for weaving entertainment and laughs into serious topics that help doctors slash taxes, maximize profits, and reach financial freedom. Whether Wes is speaking, writing, or consulting, he strives to make sure doctors keep as much of their money as possible, shielding them from taxes and excess overhead.

Wes joined John K. McGill and Company as a Tax, Business, and Financial Planning Advisor, working his way up to Partner. Wes purchased the consulting business from John McGill in 2022 and has served as President and CEO ever since. He prides himself on providing the best advice possible while ensuring his clients truly implement the necessary changes to eliminate their financial headaches.

Academic Background

Wes is a proud Hokie graduating from Virginia Tech with dual degrees in both Finance and Accounting with a concentration in Asset Management. He also majored in Financial Planning but decided two undergraduate degrees was enough, coming up 9 credits shy of his third undergraduate degree. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).

Professional Background

Wes began his career in public accounting but swiftly switched over to financial planning, working with small business owners to slash their taxes and make better financial decisions. Following his initial role, he moved to Charlotte to work for one of the largest institutional asset managers in the country. From there, he was recruited by John McGill and has since exclusively focused on helping dentists achieve better financial results.

Personal Background

In his spare time, Wes enjoys life with his wife, Becca, and their baby girl, Madelyn. He’s a car enthusiast who’s always tinkering with whatever project Becca allows to stay in the garage. When the weather’s nice, you’ll find him on the golf course or boating on the lake. Wes is also a proud dog dad to two golden retrievers, Betsy and Molly, who keep the family laughing and the floors covered in fur.
